Nielsen//NetRatings Reports San Diego, Phoenix and Detroit Lead U.S. in Broadband-wired Homes Nielsen//NetRatings Reports San Diego, Phoenix and Detroit Lead U.S. in Broadband-wired Homes Nielsen//NetRatings, Inc. - September 15, 2004 Nielsen//NetRatings released August 2004 estimates for at-home broadband connections across the country and in 35 local U.S. markets. San Diego ranked number 1, with 69.6 percent of Internet users connecting to the Internet via broadband. Columbus ranked lowest among the 35 markets, with 26.9 percent of homes using broadband connections to access the Internet. Nielsen//NetRatings found that San Diego, Phoenix, Detroit, New York and Sacramento ranked as the top five wired local markets for at-home broadband connections. These cities boast at-home broadband connection penetration rates of 65 percent or higher.
