With Cooler Valley Weather Comes Popular Open-Air Markets
With Cooler Valley Weather Comes Popular Open-Air Markets PHOENIX, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooler temperatures are arriving in the Valley just as the popular European-style open-air markets are making their comeback to the Valley, thanks to Event Merchandising USA, Inc., (http://www.artistfestivals.com), a Phoenix-based organizer of upscale markets and premier art shows. The Weekend Festival at the Outlets at Anthem will open the weekend of October 16-17; the Friday Market at the Park, formerly in the Biltmore corridor, will debut at East Thunderbird Square in Scottsdale on October 22. These open-air farmers markets are different from other markets. They're modeled after the Old World markets in Europe, where people buy fresh flowers, citrus, unique handmade art, crafts, and jewelry. "We want to help small entrepreneurs start or maintain their businesses at our markets," says Adam Norins, Vice President of Sales of Event Merchandising USA. "It becomes an event for the town. We make it an entertaining shopping experience where people can buy fresh vegetables, art, and jewelry, and also enjoy live music. It's a great place to stop by for lunch and pick up food for dinner." Over 75 vendors will participate at each location, with several merchants joining the markets based on seasonal and holiday themes throughout the year. Vendors include Peoria-based McClendon's Citrus, producing citrus fruit and several kinds of vegetables; Park City, UT-based Volker's Bakery, a popular vendor offering 60 flavors of fresh breads unavailable anywhere else in the Valley; Seaside Farms, with over 1,000 just-picked flowers from California; New River Tomatoes; and Beaux Arts Photography, specializing in Native American images. Event Merchandising is donating a booth at both market locations to Phoenix Children's Hospital in November and December. The hospital's Children's Cancer Center is raising money for programs for its young cancer patients through its Art Project, which produces the popular holiday greeting cards created by the patients. The Friday Market at the Square and the Weekend Market at the Outlets at Anthem will take place from 11:00am to 4:00pm every week from mid-October through May. Event Merchandising anticipates that 20,000 people will attend Anthem's Weekend Markets, attracting regular shoppers and residents, as well as snowbirds and vacationers traveling to and from areas north. Friday Market at the Square could see attendance in excess of 5,000 every Friday, given its proximity to Scottsdale Airpark and area shopping. The Scottsdale Arizona Republic is co-sponsoring the Friday Market at the Square with KTAR 620AM, which is also sponsoring the Weekend Market in Anthem. The station will broadcast live from both sites. For more detailed information about vendors and their locations, contact Event Merchandising USA at (602) 346-5018.
