If You Think My Blog Is Valuable

September 21, 2008 · By Bill Austin

From a post I made to a mailing list – How to tell people you appreciate what they are doing with their blog by using social media sites.

If you think my blog is valuable.

If you think my blog is valuable, or helpful to someone, then tell them about it. It’s word of mouth at it’s best. And I’ll continue to tell people about Dan Sweet, the recruiter in Houston that is multi-talented, witty, and someone that you want to know you. Because I think you are a valuable person to know, and if I were looking for a job in Houston I’d want to have lunch with you to at least pick your brain.

And no money exchanges hands between you and me – I believe in what you are doing and would promote your business as I can.

This small portion of what Jason had to say above struck me as the most important few lines to come out of that thread so far (the thread entitled “Am I overreacting to this?” that many people are filtering out now.)

If you think a blog is valuable, there are lots of ways to help out by showing the world that you appreciate it and they are free.

Famous Quotes Interlude:

People ask me “Why it is free?” and I tell them, really slowly, “Because it doesn’t cost anything.”

If you like someone’s blog and you are a http://www.stumbleupon.com/ user, STUMBLE their blog, stumble their profile and stumble a few posts that you especially like.

If you like someone’s blog and you are a MyBlogLog user, visit their blog, join their community for that blog and add them as a contact in your MyBlogLog account.

If you like someone’s blog and you are a Digg user and you like what they had to say on a particular blog post and you see that it has a few diggs but Is not on the front page yet, give ti a Digg.  There are lots of other ways to show your appreciation but my wife is tapping her foot and looking mean at me. She wants to go dancing RIGHT NOW!!!!!

See you all tomorrow.

Remember, they don’t cost anything.
